How to choose an LED profile to achieve a continuous line of light?

Do you dream of subtle, elegant lighting without visible light points? The key to achieving a continuous line of light is the proper selection of LED profile. Check out how to do it step by step.

Why is the LED profile important?

The LED profile is not only a way of mounting and protecting the strip – it is also a tool for shaping light. A deep profile allows the light to be dispersed, making the LED points disappear from view. The diffuser, on the other hand, masks the diodes and gives the light a soft character.

How to choose the right LED profile?

  • Profile depth: the deeper the diodes are located relative to the diffuser, the better the effect. A profile with a depth of 15–20 mm is the best base for a smooth light line.
  • Diffuser type: a milky (opal/frosted) diffuser provides soft, diffused light; transparent leaves visible points; matte effectively masks the diodes but darkens.
  • Compatibility with the strip: for a point-free effect, it is best to use a high-density strip (120–160 LEDs/m) or COB; not every profile is compatible with COB – check compatibility.

Additional tips

For decoration (mirror, shelves), you can use a shallower profile, but for even surface lighting (kitchen counter/ceiling), choose a deep profile dedicated to continuous light.
