How to plan a continuous line of light in AVA Light profiles

How should you choose the right LED strip, profile, and diffuser to see a smooth line of light instead of dots? And how should you explain this to the contractor who will install the lighting?

We often hear from you: how to achieve a continuous line of light in AVA Light profiles, what to pay attention to, and how to prepare for a consultation with a specialist. The answer lies in three elements that must work together: the LED strip, the profile, and the diffuser. This is precisely what our continuous line of light table for BASELYTE-10 HIGH, BASELYTE-10 LOW, and MAGLYTE-10 profiles demonstrates.

How to read the continuous light line table?

The icons in the table show three possible effects:

  • bright "tablet" - a continuous line of light, an even effect
  • bright strip in the center - a line shining in the center or barely visible points
  • three dots - visible LED points

On the left are the LED strip types: from 120 P/m to 420 P/m, as well as COB strips with various luminous fluxes. At the top are D01 profiles and diffusers in opal/milky or black/black versions.

What does the table show?

  • BASELYTE-10 HIGH - the easiest way to a continuous line

This is a good choice if you want the most even light and have some space in your installation.

    • With the D01 opal/milky diffuser, you can achieve a continuous line on virtually any strip, starting from 120 P/m.

    • With the D01 black diffuser, at 120 and 192 P/m, only the line appears in the center, but from 240 P/m and up with COB, the effect is fully continuous.

  • BASELYTE-10 LOW - shallower profile, higher requirements

In practice: in shallower furniture installations where there is no space for a HIGH profile, it's worth immediately opting for COB strips.

    • With 120, 192 and 240 P/m strips, the LED dots are still visible, regardless of the diffuser color.

    • At 420 P/m, a line appears in the center.

    • A truly continuous line in the LOW version is provided by the COB strip:

      • with an opal/milky diffuser- already at 950 lm/m COM,

      • with a black diffuser- only with the more powerful COB strip- 1425 lm/m.

  • MAGLYTE-10 - magnetic profile and the line effect

    • With an opal/milky diffuser:

      • At 120 P/m, dots are visible,

      • At 192 and 240 P/m, only a line is visible in the ceter,

      • At 420 P/m and COB strips, you get a continuous, smooth line.

    • With a black diffuser:

      • Up to 240 P/m, dots are visible,

      • From 420 P/m and COB strips, you get a subtle line in the center, but not as perfectly smooth as with opal.

Therefore, if you want a deep, continuous light with the MAGLYTE-10, it's best to combine it with a lighter diffuser and a dense strip (420 P/m or COB).

How to prepare for an interview with a contractor

Instead of saying "I want nice light," it's worth getting specific. You can literally refer to the table and say:

  • What profile are you choosing: BASELYTE-10 HIGH, BASELYTE-10 LOW or MAGLYTE-10

  • What diffuser should be used: D01 opal/milky or black

  • What effect are you looking for:

    • „a continuous line of light without dots”

    • or „a subtle line in the center would be fine”

And if you still have doubts...

If you've already chosen a profile but aren't sure which LED strip to choose, contact us with a brief project description. Based on this table, we'll help you choose the profile + diffuser + LED strip combination to achieve exactly the continuous line of light you envision in your interior.
