Installation of AVA Light profiles in slats and wall panels
Acoustic louvers and panels are excellent carriers of linear light. The key is a good location assessment, the right profile, the right diffuser, and thoughtful installation. Below, we've summarized the principles, technical data, and ready-made configurations.
Design the effect, not just the setting
Start with a scenario: should the wall create ambiance, or should the ceiling evenly illuminate the space?
- A smaller beam on the strip, a black diffuser, and a subtle recessed profile in the material work best for ambiance.
- For function, choose an opal diffuser, a higher beam, and—if necessary—multiple parallel lines, which organizes the luminance in work and circulation areas.
Selecting the profile and diffuser
BASELYTE-10 profiles are available in HIGH and LOW versions. The higher cross-section increases the distance between the strip and the diffuser, making it easier to achieve a continuous line of light even with a dark diffuser. The lower profile sits more discreetly within the panel and is suitable for applications where subtlety and minimal interference with the material are key. For decorative applications, the BASELYTE-10 HIGH + black diffuser set produces excellent results.
The MAGLYTE-10 system, on the other hand, is an excellent choice for easy display modifications and quick maintenance – thanks to magnetic accessories, you can conveniently replace modules without disturbing the panel.
💡Tip: profiles from this family are designed for LED strips in the typical 10 mm standard, which simplifies the selection of the source and accessories.
Continuous line of light
The "dotless" effect is the result of three factors:
- profile depth,
- diode density per meter,
- diffuser color.
A deeper profile and opal are more forgiving of lower density; a black diffuser usually requires a denser stripe to prevent the dots from showing through. As a practical starting point, assume approximately 120 P/m for an opal diffuser and approximately 192 P/m for a black diffuser. Then, adjust the density to suit the specific profile cross-section and the distance between the strip and the diffuser.
Step by step assembly
Choose your method based on your priority: speed, durability, or serviceability.
- Adhesive or double-sided tape are best for shorter sections and where clean, quick installation is essential. Prerequisites: a degreased substrate and even pressure.
- Choose screws and mounting plates when the panel will be mechanically operated or frequently cleaned. They provide predictable load-bearing capacity and stability over time.
- The magnetic set in the MAGLYTE-10 profile provides full serviceability and the ability to frequently change the arrangement, e.g., in retail spaces. Installation recommendation: 1 hanger per 1 meter of profile.
Regardless of the method, plan on a cutter with a depth of about 15 mm – this is usually enough to achieve a comfortable luminance distribution and space for a diffuser.
Two quick paths to proven results
A. Decorative Wall
Choose BASELYTE-10, slightly recess the profile into the material, and use a black diffuser and a strip with a lower flux but higher LED density. You'll achieve soft transitions and glare control that create a tranquil atmosphere in lobbies, apartments, and lounge areas.
B. Functional ceiling
Design one or more parallel lines with BASELYTE-10 and an opal diffuser, and choose a strip with a higher flux. This solution evenly illuminates spaces in offices, passageways, and retail spaces.
Quality and service control
Before installation, check the panel geometry and ensure the proper distance between the tape and the diffuser is maintained. After installation, test the light line for continuity at the target brightness. For magnetic systems, maintain the recommended number of hangers and ensure easy access to the modules – this speeds up inspections and any necessary changes without dust and downtime.
The most common mistakes and how to avoid them

Too shallow a profile recess results in visible LED points and higher edge luminance.

Underestimating the strip density with a black diffuser reduces the uniformity of the line.

Gluing to a dusty or uncleaned surface reduces the durability of the connection.

In spaces with frequent design changes, the lack of a magnetic system generates unnecessary service costs.
