Which light color should you choose for your home and office?

Choosing the right lighting is not just a matter of aesthetics - the color of light has a huge impact on our well-being, concentration, and everyday comfort. Find out what different color temperatures mean and how to choose the right light for the function of a given room.

What is light color?

Light color is also known as color temperature, expressed in kelvins (K). The higher the value, the light is cooler and whiter.

  • 2700–3000 K - warm light color
  • 4000–4500 K - neutral light color
  • 5000–6500 K - cool light color

Each of them has different applications - it affects our mood and productivity differently.

Light color and mood and function of the room

Warm light color (2700–3000 K)

  • resembles candlelight or sunset
  • creates a cozy, relaxing atmosphere
  • ideal for: living room, bedroom, dining room, relaxation areas

Neutral light color (4000–4500 K)

  • closest to natural daylight
  • promotes focus and visual comfort
  • excellent for: kitchen, bathroom, office, hallway

Cool light color (5000–6500 K)

  • stimulating, improves concentration
  • mainly used in work and industrial spaces
  • recommended for: offices, workshops, garages, offices

What light color to choose for the interior?

Room Recommended light color
 Living Room Warm (2700–3000 K)
 Kitchen Neutral (4000 K)
 Office/Study Cool (5000 K)
 Bathroom Neutral (4000–4500 K)

Can you mix light colors?

Yes - modern lighting systems allow light color control (e.g. CCT - correlated color temperature). This allows:

  • one light source to change color depending on the time of day
  • personalization of lighting to the user's mood or needs

This is especially useful in smart homes and multi-functional spaces.

Common mistakes in choosing light color

  1. Too cool light in relaxation areas - can cause discomfort and irritation
  2. Lack of consistency in one interior - different light colors in one space can create chaos
  3. Too few lumens with cool colors - cool light may seem "darker" if it doesn't have enough power

Summary

Light color is crucial for the function and atmosphere of the interior. By choosing the right color temperature, you can improve the comfort of life and work, as well as achieve the desired visual effect. When in doubt, it's worth using LED solutions with color adjustment capabilities.
